Journey to Calvary: “I Am”
As we enter the Lent Season, we’re back in our series “Journey to Calvary” for Bible Study. In our current lesson, “I Am” we look at Mark 14:61-62 and discover what the Savior meant when he declared two simple words: “I Am.”
TAKEAWAYS FROM THE LESSON
Jesus, the Son of God, fulfills a divine role. For Jesus to delcare Himself as the Son of God is the same as saying that Jesus is God.
John 5:18 | Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
John 10:36 | “Do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?”
John 19:7 | The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
John 10:30,33 | I and my Father are one. The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”
As the Son of God, Jesus fulfills the following:

Jesus is Preached and Declared | Acts 9:20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. 2 Corinthians 1:19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes.
Jesus Gave His Life | Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Jesus Rose from the Dead | Romans 1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

Men and Women Declared Him to Be the Son of God | Matthew 27:54 - So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!” John 11:27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
Jesus is Believed In | John 9:35, 39 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?” 39 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. Acts 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Jesus Saves from Condemnation | John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Jesus Gives Life and Life Eternally | John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. 1 John 5:13 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
Jesus Has No Beginning Nor Ending | Hebrews 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
